One key aspect of our farm program is providing affordable land access to beginning farmers. Our farm program sites offer land and utilities at an affordable rate as well as access to shared tools, equipment, and infrastructure. Our goal is to lower the barriers to gaining experience in operating your own farm business while participants build necessary records and experience to access their own land in the future.
Located at 112th and Adams Street, Prairie Pines is a 145-acre tract of land with 35 acres of trees and shrubs consisting of over 200 woody plant species, and over 55 acres of native grasses & forbs including 10 acres virgin prairie.
The Prairie Pines Training Farm sits on 5 acres of this property. Plots generally start at 1/8 acre and this property provides our highest level of support in staff, tools, and infrastructure to new farmers.
Air Park Farm is located in Lincoln Airport’s industrial park near NW 39th & W Mathis Streets.
Air Park Farm is our newest farm site and is still under development. This 12-acre property was established due to the ongoing land access and land tenure challenges we have observed for beginning farmers trying to find land. This site is for more advanced farmers with lower levels of resources and support on-site. Plots typically start at 1/2 acre.
The 14th & Lake property is a unique urban ag site in the heart of Lincoln. Owned by Bryan Health, this site has a combination of 1/8 acre in rental plots for annual specialty crop production as well as numerous perennials. A frequent host site for our workshop series, 14th & Lake shows what is possible in urban spaces on a micro-farm scale.
