Year-round Gardening Calendar
Spring is here and there is plenty to do in the garden!
Ready to try starting your own seedlings? It’s a great way to try out new varieties and save money on plants. Tomatoes and basil are two great seeds to start with, as they grow well.
It’s also a good time to start planting out in your garden. Peas, spinach and lettuce can be planted now, but so can mache and arugula, two another early season greens. Start thinking about buying onion plants or sets to plant, and pick up some seed potatoes as well.
What could you try growing this year that you haven’t grown before? Kohlrabi is an easy to grow plant in the cabbage family that produces a delicious bulbous stem that you can peel and eat raw or cooked. Kale plants will produce all year long, even sometimes overwintering and giving you early spring greens before they begin to flower in their second year.
The Crops Early Season Plant Sale will have all of these and much more available in mid-April, so be sure to stop by and pick up your spring plants then.
