This class series, running 2023 through 2025 will focus on teaching sustainable growing skills for gardeners and farmers. Class formats may vary between field days, lectures, online classes, and other alternative formats. Registration is required, but free!

This introduction to IPM will cover integrated approaches to pest management, outline levels of control, and discuss commonly used strategies to manage and identify pests. This is an entry level, lecture based class in person at the Family Service Lincoln office.

Join farmer Amy at the 14th & Lake St. Microfarm to get hands on experience with IPM techniques. Practice scouting, using row cover, and get familiar with backpack sprayers and other tools for applying chemical controls. Examples of conservation practices that help manage pests will be shown.

Tour the Community Crops ‘Bryan Campus’ to learn about 3 different models of urban farming and gardening and explore how each impact our food system. Participants will take a walking tour of the 14th & Hudson community garden, the Knyaw community garden, and the Lake Street Microfarm.
